Yen Chun Lin

Yen Chun Lin’s sculpture and video installations immerse soundscape in space. Through a meticulously controlled sensory landscape, tender violence and ambiguity are experienced in an atmospheric exploration on the truth of our environment.

Ambiguities are often devalued and neglected in assumed knowledge; situated between rational science and the classification of the unexplainable, supernatural and ethereal. Based on her research in recognizing and finding the ambiance of truth, Yen Chun Lin proposes dust as a sonic recorder that continuously records its surrounded environment, where the preservation of dust will be used for future archaeological investigations. Yen Chun Lin explores dust as an accidental material trace: debris that has degraded from dense material matter and has fallen into minimal materiality that is right at the borderline between tactile matter and virtual substance.
